Installation of this equipment and related OEM equipment should be in accordance with these instructions, OEM’s installation instructions and local codes (if applicable). Always wear protective clothing and any applicable Personal Protective Equipment (Safety Glasses and/or Ear Plugs) when working with the equipment. Discarded materials, equipment and boxes should be recycled in accordance with local and national codes. Unless otherwise specified, all Feed Delivery Systems (Diameters) are installed similarly. Note: Power Drive Unit is to be wired in accordance with all applicable local and national electrical wiring codes. All wiring sizes and fuse capacities are to be sized according to applicable electrical code specifications or other regulations. Safety Instructions: Read all safety messages in this manual and on equipment safety decals. Follow recommended precautions and safe operating practices. Ground all electrical equipment for safety. Ground all non-current carrying metal parts to guard against electrical shock. Always keep safety decals in good condition and replace missing or damaged decals. Overview: Heavy Duty power drive unit for inlets, tunnel doors and curtain control. Dual shaft outlet for any application orientation. Electronic limit switch (LSC40) provides precision limit control without the use of tools. The LSC40 provides isolation allowing up to 4 drives connected in parallel and is not affected by sudden direction changes. Base drive units are available in 120V or 240V configurations. Accessories such as drums, belts, couplers and spacers are available to suit any application. The HS1171 series is offered as 2 RPM output speed rated at 250Nm output torque which will cover most all ventilation applications.

Hog Slat Inc. Newton Grove, NC USA AUG 2026 REV A3 3 Ventilation DIMENSIONS 1. MOUNTING UNIT Unit can be mounted in any direction vertical or horizontal. Mount unit using the (4) mounting holes in the mounting feet. Insure unit is secure and structure is able to withstand the applied load to the drive unit. The gearbox must be vented. Gearbox is prefilled with lubricant. Once the unit is mounted and secured, remove the (4) bolts from the limit switch cover and remove cover. Inside cover will be a rubber gasket that has vent plug, allen wrench, hex drive and card that shows the various mounting configurations and use of vent plug. Revised model beginning in 2025

Locate highest plug location as shown once it is mounted and turn counterclockwise 2 turns to loosen plug. This will be sufficient to properly vent gear box. 2. Wiring: Power Drive unit has an attached power cord containing (4) wires identified as follows: Determine the direction of rotation needed to achieve OPEN and CLOSE directions for the application. Apply rated voltage either L or L1 wires and Common to operate machine. HI HII L - DIRECTION HI GREEN/YELLOW STRIPE - GROUND COMMON L1 - DIRECTION HII Gear box plugs. Determine which is the highest after installation and loosen 2x turns

The Power Drive unit limit switch can be set up without power to the drive. Use a drill driver along with the hex bit found in the rubber gasket underneath the limit switch cover (or found in plastic bag on the revised model with blue cover) At the end of the motor (fan end) there is a mating female hex socket. First reset limits using the instructions below. (Turn off power to drive, limits cannot be reset or set if the drive is powered) Then use the drill to rotate the motor until the load is in the desired position. Note the direction of rotation required to bring load to that position. Use below instructions to program limit for that position. Once the first direction is set, change directions of the drill and move load to the opposite position. Use limit switch instructions to program limit for the second direction position. Apply power to drive and test in both directions and confirm unit stops at the desired positions Once limit switch is set, replace the hex key in the rubber gasket (or snap inside blue plastic lid) for safe keeping. S H I H II RESET LIMITS Press & hold “HI” and “HII”. While pressing them, press “S” button and hold until LED indicators for position HI and HII turn red. SET LIMITS EITHER HI or HII DIRECTIONS Press the “S” button and hold then press HI or HII depending on the direction of rotation. Hold until the LED light for that direction turns green. Repeat for other direction. To review the settings: Press “S” button. Limits that are set will be GREEN. Limits that are not set will be RED. Hog Slat Inc. Newton Grove, NC USA AUG 2026 REV A3 7 Ventilation An optional HS1129 AUTO/MANUAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY(Purchased Separately) may be used between the Power Drive unit and the controller. This allows for local control of the Power Drive which may aid in setting limits and testing. Use with 120V models only. To use the Manual feature, set ventilation controller to either OPEN or CLOSE operation. The HS1129 will take that signal and allow user to open or close Power Drive manually. User may use the manual operation to quickly move the Power Drive unit to position to program the limits in the place of using a drill driver to rotate the motor. When doing this however user must be VERY CAUTIOUS not to operate load past its mechanical limits. Refer to step 3 to set the limits of the LSC40 switch. Reset the limits first, then use the manual switch on the HS1129 to operate the Power Drive unit until the load is in the desired position. Switch the HS1129 AUTO/MAN switch to the middle position which will stop the unit. Set limit on the LSC40. Switch directions on the HS1129 and switch to manual. Power Drive unit will change direction so the opposite travel limit can be programmed. Once limits are set, it is a good idea to operate the unit in manual mode to both limits to confirm travel limits are correct. Set unit in AUTO mode to allow house ventilation controller to operate Power Drive unit.
