2 SWINE STEEL HOUSING EQUIPMENT Gestation Stalls Hog Slat gestation stall equipment provides pork producers with the ability to house pregnant sows before and during gestation while effectively managing their feed intake, body condition and well-being. Quality Design Hog Slat gestation stalls incorporate design features perfected over 30+ years of manufacturing and are trusted by pork producers around the world for their sow housing needs. • 1-1/2” angle top and bottom frame, ½” horizontal rods and strategically spaced vertical upright supports along the panel creates a strong stall that can handle large, full grown sows. Also available with solid rod bottom, and stainless steel legs and floor spacers. • Integrated feed drop tube pipe delivers feed from the sow drop system directly in front of each pig and will work with both floor feeding and stainless steel trough feeding setups. Also available with bolt on feed pipe. • Front and rear stall gates are available with trapped in gate rod; or tab/ pipe combination that provides gate rods with additional protection. Rear stall gates feature EZ-Clip latch that allows the gate to be opened to the left or to the right to facilitate easy loading and un-loading in the barn. • Hog Slat sow bowls and SowMAX feeders can be installed on straight front stall gates, providing producers with the ability to offer ad-lib feeding or post-farrowing sows before being bred. • Available with bolt on feed pipe. 4 SWINE STEEL HOUSING EQUIPMENT Stanchions Hog Slat stanchion systems were designed with features and benefits to increase sow comfort, worker safety and producer efficiency in the barn. Our stanchion design is easily installed, and minimizes the amount of total maintenance and required training over the lifetime of the equipment. • Stanchion divider partitions are available with an open solid rod, solid sheet metal or PVC sheet design. • Hog Slat stanchion systems are available with multiple width and length options to adapt to any new construction or remodeling building project. • Stanchion equipment options provide flexibility in pen sizing to accommodate a variety of building dimensions and sow group sizes. • Optional double or single-sided stainless steel sow feeding trough options are available to protect concrete floors or allow feeding on total slat barns. • Available with bolt on feed pipe. Hog Slat stanchion systems are well suited to current US production practices: • Farm staff can more easily make the transition to a stanchion system because it uses the same feed delivery system as traditional gestation stall barns. • Stanchions do not require a staff highly trained in maintaining and troubleshooting complicated electronic systems. • Stanchions closely resemble traditional stall feeders which means sows do not have to go through a “training period” that ESF systems require. • Individual sows and sow groups are easily located in a barn, allowing them to be managed and cared for easier than other group housing systems. The bolt-together assembly design of Hog Slat stanchions allows for fast, aligned and squared installations every time. Stanchion layouts can be designed to integrate with existing feed systems, minimizing the need to train employees on operation and maintenance of complicated new equipment. • First, hot-dipped galvanized floor spacers are installed on the slats/flooring, and then stanchion panels are bolted in place and secured with matching top spacing bars. • Pre-punched floor and top spacing bars align with each other to ensure stanchion dividers are equally spaced and completely square from top to bottom. 5 WWW.HOGSLAT.COM Top Strap Front Rods Floor Strap Double-Sided Configuration Single-Sided Configuration Practical Design Considerations Head-to-Head Layout • A preferred layout on new construction stanchion systems is a head-to-head feeding design; which reduces the total number of feed lines and maximizes the use of other equipment such as feed troughs and front aisle gates. • With all feeding stations located on one side of the pen; a clean, open pen design is created, providing the ability to easily monitor and observe sows while feeding and resting. Dual Side Layout • When remodeling existing stall buildings, stanchions can be installed on both sides of each pen to utilize existing troughs, feed lines and slats. • Stanchion spaces in the pens are still spaced far enough apart on both sides to prevent dominant sows from blocking traffic and allow all sows to freely move throughout the pen. Penning Hog Slat stanchion pens can be installed with walk-through posts and optional “saloon-style” doors. The 3” posts anchor the penning panels and allow workers to slip between them while checking sows in each pen. Hog Slat stanchion systems are flexible enough to be installed in a variety of barn designs; allowing new construction projects to maximize production efficiencies, and remodeling projects to incorporate existing feed lines and equipment into the layout to control investment costs during a transition.

The Sampson crate is designed with pig saving features that will help increase piglet litter survival rates while also providing exception sow comfort. • Sampson farrowing crates feature a unique flip bar that allows both sides of the crate to adjust up and down, slowly and gently lowering the sow to the floor when she transitions from standing to laying. • The adjustable crate sides allow sows to nurse in comfort while laying down, and adjust in closer to her body while standing to create a large, safe area for pigs in the creep area. • Sampson crates are equipped with a double nipple water pipe with a sow drinking nipple on top and a smaller piglet drinking nipple on the bottom close to the floor. • The rump rail stays in place when the rear door is opened, keeping the sow in place while also making clean out or birthing assistance tasks easier to complete. • Rear rump rail is also adjustable, allowing it to be moved into the correct position depending on whether a sow or gilt is loaded into the farrowing crate. • Hog Slat large or small sow feeder bowls can be mounted to the head gate; both featuring a pivoting tipout design to make feeder cleaning a simple task. • Available in 7’0” and 7’6” lengths. • Available in either our classic blue powder-coated epoxy paint or hot-dipped galvanized finishes.
